Before – After Photos
Subjects are required to wear black headbands and capes to ensure image consistency throughout the study. Digital photographs are captured using fixed camera positions and controlled equipment settings to maintain standardisation across all time points.
In addition to full-face or full-area photography, images are carefully aligned and close-cropped at the end of the study to clearly demonstrate visible changes over the treatment period. Camera height, lighting position, angles, and subject placement are all logged and controlled throughout the study, with guided non-invasive instruction provided to help maintain consistent facial expression and posture.
Captured images are then analysed using photographic image analysis techniques to assess percentage-based changes in a range of skin and cosmetic conditions. These may include pore size, skin tone, luminosity, redness, firmness, fine lines and wrinkles, age spot appearance, scar visibility, cellulite appearance, makeup durability, and overall evenness of coverage.
Why This Service Is So Popular With Sponsors
Our approach significantly reduces the variability often associated with traditional before-and-after photography. Through tightly controlled imaging conditions and careful management of variables, we are able to produce highly consistent photographic comparisons throughout the study period.
This level of control also allows smaller image subsets to be selected from larger clinical studies, helping to demonstrate both minimum and maximum visible outcomes without the need for a dedicated large-scale photography study. With core claims already supported through studies involving 30 or more subjects, these selected image sets can provide clear visual representation of product performance in a cost-effective way.
By combining scientific efficacy assessment with high-quality visual presentation, our imaging techniques provide both claim support and marketing-ready content. The result is a set of clear, media-friendly images designed to communicate product performance and study outcomes effectively to consumers.
